Counseling Psychologist

Christianne S. Connelly, Ph.D., is a West Virginia native and Licensed Counseling Psychologist. She completed her doctoral training in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Health Psychology from the University of Georgia (UGA). 

Dr. Christianne Connelly earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from West Virginia University. She has provided counseling and evaluations in various underserved mental health settings, including the Bureau of Prisons and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers (VAMC) in Atlanta, Georgia and Louisville, Kentucky. She has also provided clinical services in a behavioral health clinic for uninsured individuals, a departmental clinic at UGA, the Juvenile Counseling and Assessment Program at UGA and independent practice. 

Dr. Christianne Connelly has dedicated herself to helping individuals from rural and low income backgrounds. Specifically, her primary clinical interests include treating individuals who have experienced trauma or who have difficulties with substance use. This may also include family members affected by substance use. 

Despite focused clinical interests, Dr. Christianne Connelly supports individuals, couples and families of all ages and diverse backgrounds for a variety of other mental health concerns. Additionally, Dr. Christianne Connelly specializes in providing psychological and psychoeducational assessments. These assessments include:

Dr. Christianne Connelly enjoys assisting individuals through the therapeutic process by building a positive relationship using Person Centered skills and cultural humility. She tailors each person’s treatment, integrating various clinical interventions and theories to lead clients through the change process. Dr. Christianne Connelly also values enhancing clinical training by supervising undergraduate and graduate students for counseling and assessment experiences, particularly for students interested in working in rural communities.

Dr. Christianne Connelly is committed to engagement in advocacy and social justice and so she’s actively involved in national and state psychological organizations. This includes the American Psychological Association, West Virginia Psychological Association (WVPA), and the West Virginia Rural Health Association (WVRHA). She was recently elected as the Diversity-Representative-at-Large for WVPA and is a Policy Committee member for the WVRHA.
